Hethersett Academy celebrates GCSE success with 85% of all subjects at 9-4 grades

The Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ secondary school, Hethersett Academy is celebrating its exceptional GCSE results today with 80% 9-4 grades in Maths and English, with 40% of grades across all subjects being 9-7 and an average of 85% 9-4 grades and 73% 9 - 5 across all subjects. 

The school, which is known for its on-going success is consistently one of the top-performing schools in Norfolk, producing students that achieve highly with this year being no exception.  

Jane Diver, Principal at Hethersett Academy, said: 

“Congratulations to our Year 11 students who have worked incredibly hard to achieve these results, securing their places on their next pathways to success. On behalf of myself and the team at Hethersett Academy, we wish them all the very best for the future.” 

The school has also seen an impressive increase in the percentage of 9-5 grades compared to 2019, with Art up to 70% from 30%, History up to 71% from 52%, Sciences up from 46.9% to 68.3%%, Geography from 63.9% to 81.6%, English Language up from 58% to 85%, Computer Science up to 72.2% from 57.1%, Resistant Material up to 60% from 33.3%.  

Leonard Werner, achieving nine grades at 5+ said: 

“There’s no experience like I’m experiencing right now! The countless Youtube videos I’ve watched, all the revision I did, it’s all here, it’s all right here!” 

Delivering an education that inspires a life-long love of learning, students from Hethersett Academy are all now in an excellent position to progress their education with many choosing to continue their learning in Inspiration Trust’s brilliant sixth forms, Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form and Jane Austen College, with many students already thinking ahead to ensure they secure a place at their first-choice university. 

Pallavi Shastri, who achieved eleven grades 8 & 9, securing her place at Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form in September said: 

“I’m extremely happy, I’m really pleased with all my results. I’m really looking forward to sixth form at Sir Isaac Newton. I will be studying all three sciences as well as maths and I am so excited to start!” 

Hethersett Academy will be hosting their annual Open Day on Monday 25th September from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. They encourage those interested in applying for the school, to attend for a tour of the school’s fantastic facilities, and to speak to current students, teachers, and the Principal. The school offers 23 music aptitude places for entry into Year 7 in September 2024; the application deadline is 2nd October 2023 with auditions scheduled for 13th and 17th October.
