On Monday 9th October, a small ceremony was held, and a remembrance tree was planted in a peaceful spot at Hethersett Academy, in recognition of Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Shaded by several mature trees and shrubs, the secluded space will provide staff of the Inspiration Trust who have been impacted by baby and pregnancy loss, with an opportunity for quiet contemplation or to meet to share their experiences.

Now in its 21st year, Baby Loss Awareness Week was from Monday 9th to Sunday 15th October and aims to break the silence around pregnancy and baby loss and provide a safe and supportive space for everyone in the baby loss community and beyond to come together to remember much-loved and missed babies.

A cake sale was also held at Hethersett Academy to raise awareness and funds for The Miscarriage Association. The sale successfully raised £60, which was donated to the charity.

Inspiration Trust’s HR Director, Liz Howard said:

“It is incredibly important to the Trust that we support our colleagues, and this remembrance tree is a wonderful area for reflection. We appreciate that everyone's journey through loss is different, and many people have not shared their grief and loss openly with others. With the provision of this special place for reflection we hope we have taken a step closer to supporting colleagues.”

Principal of Hethersett Academy, Jane Diver said:

“I am pleased that we have been able to create a safe space for colleagues to remember their losses and for those who wish to share their experiences to help others on their very difficult journey.”
