Hero Site Manager Wins Unsung Hero Award

Our Site Manager, Lee Smith, was the worthy winner of the Unsung Hero award at the National Pearson Teaching Awards 2025. In a special visit, none other than Alex Jones of BBC's 'The One Show' came to meet Lee in November, congratulate him on his award, and present him with a bench and commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.

In a complete surprise to Lee a film crew from 'The One Show' had been on site collecting footage of the academy that morning, leading up to the moment when Alex Jones would bestow him with the Gold Award, on a bench put together by pupils from the school.

Lee not only excels in his job as Site Manager, but dedicates himself to supporting students and colleagues alike, culminating in literally saving the life of a member of his team last year and supporting them back to health.

Lee, along with his family, colleagues and pupils of Hethersett who were involved in the filming were broadcast on 'The One Show' on 27th November, and we are all so very proud of his achievements and incredible contribution to the school, trust, and wider community.
