Hethersett Academy pupils have entertained the village with a string of performances of Legally Blonde. Sold-out shows and packed audiences were delighted to see and hear the singing, dancing, and acting of our talented pupils.

The musical was written by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin based on the book by Heather Hach and follows the story of Elle Woods, navigating Harvard Law School and her relationships alongside her beloved pooch Bruiser.

“From day one of rehearsals, I have been amazed by the effort, enthusiasm, and hard work of this cast. It has been lovely to see new talent joining our cast this year, whilst some of our more experienced performers have taken on sections of direction and choreography; it really has been a team effort and one I am incredibly proud of! I would like to thank our wonderful students, all the amazing support from staff and our audiences for giving Hethersett students this fantastic experience and one I certainly won’t forget!”

The musical centres on the story of Elle Woods as she follows her ex-boyfriend Warner to Harvard, Elle challenges expectations and does all she can to succeed in law school in hopes of winning him back and proving she is “serious”.

Throughout the musical there were catchy musical numbers that brought the audience on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, celebrating Elle’s victories and empathising with her troubles. Culminating with a dramatic court case, Elle must rely on all her expertise to come out on top.

“We are so proud of all our students' hard work and dedication to this year's production; we have been particularly impressed this year by how students have been 100% accurate on their lines and lyrics throughout show week, and how they have tackled a complex and demanding musical score. A school production yields some of the fondest memories students will carry with them throughout their lives, and we feel privileged to have the resources and facilities to offer a first-class production experience at Hethersett Academy.”

It was wonderful to see the students engage with the material and pull off such stunning performances night after night at the academy. Professional lighting and sound gave many of our performers a totally new experience and it was a great opportunity to try something new. Complemented by a live band of students from the academy, it was wonderful to see everyone working together and sounding fantastic! With a varied cast of seasoned performers and first timers, everyone gave their all and brought a piece of Harvard magic to Hethersett.

Tremendous thanks to all staff and students involved in the production, we are so proud of everyone involved.
